This was a presentation I created when asked to speak at Boulder Public Library's "Learn and Play Day" for staff development.
I chose this project as an illustration of how and why Front Range libraries must adjust to the coming changes in how information services will be delivered. My argument was informed by Rogers' "Diffusion of Innovation" model. I discussed recent research findings that show our local region consists of primarily "early adopters" of technology. Therefore, in order for libraries to respond to patron needs and expectations, we must understand how computing devices are converging to become smaller and more mobile, and the subsequent change in information-seeking behavior that results.
