About Matt Hamilton

1head

Hi, I’m Matt Hamilton, otherwise known as “The Brewin’ Librarian”.

As an Emerging Technologies Librarian I am interested in areas such as interface design and the development of “next generation” discovery tools. I am particularly intrigued by the field of Human-Computer Interaction and the changes now coming about which are paving the way for “Calm Technology”. Some of my most recent work has focused on how mobile computing is changing information use and its impact on library services.

I also think that Open Source development offers us an opportunity to look anew at our library systems and ask ourselves if we can develop something more customized to the way we work today– and the way we might work tomorrow.

I am also very interested in the intersection between web 2.0 participatory technologies and scholarship, especially in the ways that electronic resource providers have responded to the changing needs of scholars.

When not thinking, reading, writing, or speaking about libraries– I enjoy being a good father, riding my sweet cruiser bike, and brewing up tasty beer.

I would also like to make clear that anything I happen to write, or say, or even think about libraries, life, government, or anything else is absolutely not to be construed as representative of the the city of Boulder or the Boulder Public Library. My foolishness (and occasional wisdom) is entirely my own.
